Overworld
7 Regions
The Illuvium world or Overworld that you have crashed landed on is made up of 7 unique regions and a home base known as Sanctum Mesa. Each of the regions has completely different environments like frozen tundra, swamp, dessert etc.
As a ranger you will be exploring the different 3D open world regions in the hunt to capture illuvials and harvest resources.
You will be able to find different type of illuvials in each of the regions that correspond to their affinity type. For example you might find Stabbin the penguin in Taiga Boreal because it is the frost zone containing mostly air and water illuvials.
The illuvials are not exclusive to the zones though, meaning you can technically find the the ice penguin in the middle of the dessert zone Crimson Waste, but the odds are staggeringly low.
